How do I add a YouTube channel subscription option to my homepage?

Businesses that use Facebook will also include this link on their homepage. In short, there are 2 ways to do this:

  1. passive, where a Facebook icon is added to the website and it is hoped that the visitor will click on the icon, get acquainted with the fan page and finally maybe click on the "like" button and become a fan,
  2. active, where the Facebook like-box is added to the website with an embed code and the visitor can become a fan of the company with one click while already on the website.

For example: on the website of the President of the Republic the passive option has been used - i.e. the icons of the social media channels used (Facebook / Twitter / YouTube) are displayed

An example of the use of the Facebook like-box can be found on the right side of the VideoTurunduses website.

YouTube is a social media channel, which has the same possibility to invite the website visitor to join the channel. In short, there are 3 ways:

  1. passive, a'la president.ee i.e. the homepage just has the YouTube logo
  2. link to channel subscription page (Read closer from the order page URL and icons).
  3. active i.e. add a YouTube subscription page button to the homepage.

YouTube Subscribe Button

Yesterday, YouTube announced from the launch of the order button with a new solution. In terms of design, it is possible to add a button with a thumbnail or, if desired, a black background - see more From the Google Developers environment:

An easier way is to copy the code below to your homepage:

<script src=”https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js”></script>
<div data-channel=”Your YouTube channel name">
</div>

Summary

If you produce video content, subscribers to your YouTube channel are just as important as Facebook fans. According to SocialBakers only a few Estonian companies/organizations have more than 10,000 subscribers, the majority is within ten or a hundred fans.

At the same time, if you are more modest in social media channels, i.e. you don't speak on Facebook and you don't upload YouTube video content, then you can also be more modest, i.e. more passive, with exposure on the channels' homepage.
