Scottish independence video ads

yes-noThis Thursday something extraordinary will happen in the European Union - a part of one member state will vote whether it should be independent or not. Counting days before the vote, the position of supporters and opponents of independence is relatively equal, and last-minute video messages play an important role in making the decision.

With each side limited to a maximum of £2.5m in advertising and messaging, messaging on social media can be decisive.

The success of the supporters of independence can be with a more positive message from the "YES" campaign (the success of which has also been shown by Obama), to continue jointly with the United Kingdom "Better Together” or “NO thanks” campaign has been ridiculed, and in many cases with good reason – what do you think of the following, for example:

Meanwhile, the "My Generation" video, which at first seems like support for the UK, but later when read backwards has a different message, is much more original:

The propagandistic prediction of the future in black and white colors of the "YES" campaign has also received little attention for a reason:

And the fact that "Better Together" made with a young man has received almost half a million views is probably related to making parodies of it:

The most popular video opinion on Scottish independence is instead given by Willie from The Simpsons, who calls for a vote for him.

All in all, the situation is best and most clearly summed up by John Oliver, who in his latest "Last Week Tonight" show brings Scotland's national animal, the unicorn(!), eats haggis and drinks whiskey to keep Scotland a part of the United Kingdom:

England has been underestimating the Scots for centuries, and until this spring, the fact that the voting result could turn out to be positive for the supporters was not taken very seriously. Positive video messages definitely play a big role in the latter.

However, what will happen in the European Union in the event of a positive decision has made many officials go gray... but this topic is already from another opera.
