Recommendation: Magisto, a free video editing environment

The day before yesterday, a start-up company of Israeli origin launched automatic and free video editing environment Magisto, which makes an effective short clip from your up to 16 video clips, header and background music.

There are probably more video recording devices in the world than there are people, because so many mobile phones have the ability to record video (which is about as many as there are people), on still cameras (digital, mirror), as well as on all kinds of video cameras.

While almost every internet user knows how to upload photos to their social media channels or elsewhere on the internet, putting together and uploading one effective short clip from several video clips is beyond the reach of most people or they simply don't find the time to do it.

Help will come Magisto, which is said to be able to select the important ones from the "black" video material you recorded and combine them into a suitable short clip. All you have to do is upload your clips, add a title and choose background music. When the clips are uploaded (after about half an hour), the system will send you a message that your video is ready. You can then share it via Facebook, Twitter or email or upload it to your YouTube account.

Magisto is somewhat similar to offering video slideshows To Animoto, which makes a video clip from your pictures (+ text, music and videos). If you don't have any video clips of your business, but several pictures (similar to, for example, many small businesses in Estonia), in Animoto you can create a video slideshow from the pictures, i.e. make your new marketing channel in less than an hour.

However, the main difference between Magisto lies in its engine, or technology, which discovers the most important parts of your video clips and can assemble a clip from these parts.

TEST

Of course, the newly launched system still has significant flaws, more on them below, but a simple test of 16 random relatively mediocre video clips shot last weekend shows that the engine is working perfectly fine - below is a clip created by Magisto (01:32):

In the following, however, the entire black material of this video (07:07) has been put together in one long sample clip (+ added background music):

Cons of Magisto

1) Branding: of course, there is and will always be branding of the creator on the (free) video. Similar to Animoto, Magisto is not an exception in this respect - currently the mandatory logo and web address are ready at the end of the video. Probably, in the paid Pro-version that will appear someday, there will also be an option to give up branding.

2) File: it is not (currently) possible to download the finished video file and give it the final touch yourself.
NB: if you really want to, download the finished video from YouTube and use it as an example http://keep-tube.com/ help to load video.

3) Quality: the quality of the video file is SD(360px), even if the uploaded clips were of Full HD quality.

4) Mobile application: probably, besides the 5.5 million USD cash injection, several will take place in the near future upgrade, among others, a mobile application with which you can mix your mobile video clips before uploading them to YouTube.

Summary

Magisto is intended for ordinary internet users who occasionally use a camera, mobile phone or video camera, but don't want to or don't know how to bother with complex video editing programs to put together an effective short version of clips.

Future users of the environment will certainly include young families, who likes to film their child's every move, but understand that even the mother-in-law would not bother to watch the first steps of the lesson later, and similarly CEO of Magistodoesn't mind spending hours editing the material himself. In addition, for example travel enthusiasts, who would rather have their computer uploaded overnight with video files made during the day in some lodgings with internet, than spend the valuable time sleeping or partying at night on video editing, or "volunteer" video enthusiasts party recorders, from whom friends are already expecting a summary the next day ... on and on and on.

Magisto's greatest potential is likely to be in the making of smartphones in the mobile world, where mobile clips could be uploaded using a simple application and the results of the work could be shared with others after a while.

Because in the world of social media and video marketing, in addition to many other factors, is one of the most important whatsmart, then sharing, for example, some major events (concerts, sports events, fairs, etc.) during the event about that an already mixed YouTube video clip could easily and cheaply raise the profile of your website, fan page, channel, product, brand, etc.

Give it a try and give your opinion here... or at least recommend it to a friend who made an obscene video clip of you with a cell phone at the last party.
