Use of video in the marketing of Estonian SPAs

Some time ago I visited a SPA. Since I had not been there before, the introduction video found on the website was definitely helpful when making a choice.

After choosing the accommodation package, I was also able to choose 2 treatments, which I had a little trouble with, because although the salt chamber was familiar, I did not know what SAD light therapy and the acupuncture mat were. I decided to leave the massage option on the spot, because the last experiences of a root massaging an average Finnish tourist in an old-school doctor's room at one of the Pärnu SPAs were not the most pleasant.

All in all, I was happy with the weekend, although even the acupuncturist later said about the light therapy that it was probably the most boring part of the weekend. Not that lying on a plastic spiked mat was any different…

Estonian SPAs offer hundreds of different procedures, of which the text and price are mainly displayed on their homepages. In which room and mood and by whom the massages or beauty procedures are offered, it is very difficult to get a complete picture in advance.

Video presentations of SPA services

SPAs offer emotion, rest and relaxation. The best way to sell it is through video.

Text is good for conveying facts (there are 425 places in our hotel), selling a product with a picture (a green acupuncture mat costs EUR 35), video is the best way to show services and emotions (for example, a masseuse talks and shows which stones and creams he uses and how etc.).

Except for the water cleansing of the large intestine, you have to make a video to introduce all the other services, an idea that the marketing people of SPAs could definitely consider.

Marketing videos of Estonian SPAs on the internet

Recently, Marko Siller analyzed his etourism in his blog the use of videos in Estonian tourism marketing (mandatory reading for all tourism service providers), where some introductory videos of SPAs are also presented.

Estonian SPA Association combines 16 Estonian SPAs and sanatoriums, followed by a subjective ranking of their analysis based on viewership.

1) Meresuu SPA, 1 video, 16,700 views

On the home page is the first link under the video gallery. Although On Youtube account the last letter "a" was accidentally left out, it is the most viewed SPA introduction video in Estonia.

6) Sanatorium Health (no viewing statistics)

Link to video is nicely presented on the home page of the website, but the video cannot be found on YouTube, for example. After searching, you will find a Finnish video with 1750+ views, whose video description is: "A Perfect place to visit if you are old and dying soon."

1-minute recommendation: the video is still worth uploading to Youtube, not forgetting a better description.

7) Kalev SPA

On the home page "watch movie" link, which will direct you to download the video. Very impractical! In the video of the tourism website 244 views on Youtube.

8) Toila SPA Hotel

In the video of the tourism website 600 views, can't find it on the hotel website.

Couldn't find any videos on the website or YouTube.

In addition, SPAs that do not belong to the SPA union have also engaged in video marketing, for example Narva Jõesuu sanatorium, Arensburg SPA (12,000+ views) and several others, but due to lack of time, there is time for a more comprehensive review and additions here in the comments.

SPAs offer emotion, rest and relaxation. The best way to sell it is through video. The better and truer the potential customer gets a picture of the house, services and procedures even before the visit, the more likely he will become a repeat customer.
