A famous YouTube star About RayWillamJohnson inspired Estonian speaker MinusMillion started only 4 months ago with his first video, but to date has reached almost 300,000 views on his 5 videos, over 3300 Facebook fans and hundreds of questions about when the new video is coming.
How much more some time ago I thought, that commenting on internet videos in a similar style, but in Estonian, does not pay off because the audience is and will remain limited, so today I think that Mr. Minus has found the right niche - the demand for such videos is already shown by the average number of views of his videos, which today is approx. 75 ooo.
The first video, currently with over 78,000 views, is like this:

Some examples for statistical comparison June 2011 TOP10 TV shows
1st place: Estonia is Looking for a Superstar (TV3) – 235,000 views
4th place: Summer reporter (Kanal2) – 165,000 views
10th place: Documentary: "Russian Lessons" (ETV) - 125,000 views
... maybe a little more and MinusMiljon will be able to compete with the TOP10 Estonian TV shows in terms of viewership!
There is certainly a certain part in Minus' success story as well with the help of the media, but the basis of everything is content. Good content brings viewers, a large number of viewers is a potential marketing channel. The question is whether and how it is possible to turn the potential into money?
When creating content, it doesn't matter if you're imitating RayWilliam, teaching how to change a cylinder head gasket, or how to drum a washing machine, with a large number of viewers, there is an opportunity.
Recommendations
How about that Make money with YouTube I wrote some time ago, the following are some recommendations for MinusMiljon (and future similar talents):
1) Make it your own fun and don't think (at first) about income. It is badly needed time and patience. Today's YouTube star making (hundreds of) thousands of dollars alone didn't become popular overnight and probably didn't break even in a year. Moreover, most of those who planned to earn from their videos have not received a single cent so far.
If you enjoy what you do, you will do it with much more motivation and will not let yourself be disturbed by the knowledge that you may not get income from it. Fun is the main one, for example RWJ the job description is: "I'm paid to clean the urinals at the local strip club."
2) Regularity. Make videos when you have time publish them after a certain period of time (choose a certain day of the week and a period for this purpose, every week, month, etc.) and share this information both on your YouTube channel and on your Facebook fan page.
3) Website. "The domain minusmiljon.ee is still available". Direct all traffic to your website, through which viewers can also watch the latest videos, join a fan page, etc. Your website gives you the freest hands for other activities as well, including selling something. It doesn't really matter to the viewer whether he sees a YouTube video on your website or on a YouTube page.
300,000 visits to your website in 4 months is already a significantly more effective marketing potential than the same number for YouTube videos.
PS: I understood from the letter that the creation of an interactive web environment has already been planned, I recommend as soon as the web is up, to add its link to the description of all the videos so far!
4) Annotations. Youtube annotations make it possible to connect videos together with one click, and the channel in the video is also possible subscription text make clickable (spotlight annotation):
NB: Channel subscription page URL: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=miinusmiljon
Summary
Earning income from YouTube is very difficult and certainly not guaranteed like a normal day job. Only a few who have a certain amount of talent, but significantly more patience and willpower to deal with the matter, can thereby achieve an income for themselves.
Making videos for fun is certainly an interesting challenge for young people who have a lot of free time besides school, which, if well thought out and executed, can one day guarantee income, if not through YouTube, then in the form of fame, even as the host of a TV show in the future...
In the comments, we are waiting for offers to the question of the day: "Which Estonian YouTube channel has more subscribers than MinusMiljon (4025)?”
